Terms of Service

Last updated: 8 June 2026  ·  Effective: 8 June 2026

Please read these terms carefully. By registering for or using the ConvAuction platform you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use our platform.

1. About ConvAuction

ConvAuction Ltd ("ConvAuction", "we", "us") is a UK-based online marketplace that enables property clients ("Clients") to obtain fixed-fee conveyancing quotes from regulated solicitor firms ("Solicitors"). We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice. We act solely as an introducer.

Our registered address and company details are available upon request at legal@convauction.com.

2. Eligibility & Account Registration

  • You must be aged 18 or over to use our platform.
  • Solicitors must be regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or another recognised legal regulator. We reserve the right to verify your regulatory status at any time.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Notify us immediately at support@convauction.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
  • You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration. Providing false information is grounds for immediate termination.

3. Platform Services

3.1 For Clients

  • Clients may post property transaction details to receive competitive fixed-fee quotes from verified solicitors.
  • Submitting a quote request does not constitute a binding contract with ConvAuction or any solicitor. A contract arises only upon formal instruction of a solicitor and acceptance of their client care letter.
  • ConvAuction does not charge clients any fee for using the platform. You pay only the solicitor you choose to instruct.
  • ConvAuction does not guarantee the quality, timeliness, or outcome of any solicitor's services. All legal work is performed by the instructed solicitor's firm, not ConvAuction.

3.2 For Solicitors

  • Solicitors may create a verified profile and submit competitive quotes to clients posting jobs on the platform.
  • All solicitor accounts are subject to verification of SRA/regulatory status before becoming active.
  • Subscription fees (where applicable) are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where required by law.
  • Solicitors must not submit misleading quotes. ConvAuction reserves the right to remove any listing or quote that is inaccurate, incomplete, or misrepresentative.
  • Solicitors remain solely responsible for their professional conduct, compliance with SRA Standards and Regulations, and the quality of legal services provided to clients.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information about yourself or your services.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform or another user's account.
  • Scrape, copy, or reproduce platform content for commercial use without our express written consent.
  • Transmit spam, malware, or any content that is offensive, defamatory, or harassing.
  • Use the platform to contact users outside of the platform for unsolicited marketing purposes.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the platform.

5. Reviews & Ratings

Clients may leave reviews of solicitors following a completed transaction. By submitting a review you confirm that:

  • The review reflects your genuine experience.
  • The review does not contain defamatory, discriminatory, or legally privileged content.
  • You grant ConvAuction a perpetual, royalty-free licence to display the review on the platform.

ConvAuction reserves the right to remove reviews that breach these terms or applicable law.

6. Fees & Payment

  • Subscription fees for solicitor accounts are set out on our Pricing Guide page and may be updated with 30 days' notice.
  • All fees are quoted exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise. VAT will be added at the applicable UK rate.
  • Payments are processed via our third-party payment provider. We do not store full payment card details on our servers.
  • Unpaid invoices may result in account suspension. We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue amounts at 8% above the Bank of England base rate.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on the ConvAuction platform — including logos, design, text, software, and databases — is owned by or licensed to ConvAuction Ltd and is protected by UK copyright law. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any platform content without our prior written consent.

8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

ConvAuction is an introducer only. We are not a party to any retainer or service contract between a client and a solicitor. We do not accept liability for the quality, accuracy, or outcome of any legal services provided by solicitors listed on the platform.

  • The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, ConvAuction's total liability to you shall not exceed the fees you paid to ConvAuction in the 12 months preceding the claim.
  • We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, loss of profits, or loss of data.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

9. Termination & Suspension

  • You may close your account at any time by contacting support. Closure does not entitle you to a refund of any prepaid subscription fees.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these Terms, provide false information, or engage in conduct that is harmful to other users or the platform.
  • On termination, your right to access the platform ceases. Clauses that by their nature survive termination — including intellectual property, liability, and dispute resolution — will remain in effect.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a prominent notice on the platform. Continued use of the platform after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Before initiating legal proceedings, you agree to contact us at legal@convauction.com to attempt resolution in good faith.
